Under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, King Abdullah II Fund for Development was established by Law No. 13 of 2001 (later Law No. 37 of 2004) to promote sustainable development of the country. The Fund, in partnership with the public and private sectors, seeks to implement development projects and outposts, especially in areas suffering from poverty and unemployment.
