The Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences organised a welcome session for its new students, attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Ayat Al-Maghraby; the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Hazem Al-Nsoor; and Ms. Mai Abu Hamdieh, Assistant to the President for Marketing and Communication Affairs and Director of the International Programmes Centre, alongside the heads of academic departments and members of the academic staff.
During the session, which was moderated by Dr. Jumana Al-Salem, Dr. Al-Maghraby extended a welcome to the incoming students and expressed her hope that their university journey would be both rewarding and productive. She urged them to monitor their academic progress and adhere to their study plans, emphasising the importance of continuous communication with their academic advisor, whom she referred to as the “student’s friend” during their university career.
Furthermore, she emphasised the importance of perseverance and academic excellence, as well as the value of leveraging the opportunities offered by Middle East University to develop skills and cultivate character within a contemporary, student-centric learning environment.
In his address, Dr. Al-Nsoor affirmed the role of the Deanship of Student Affairs in supporting students and honing their skills through the cultural, artistic, sports, and professional activities offered by the Deanship via various student clubs. Furthermore, he emphasised the availability of complimentary training courses designed to equip students with the necessary skills to successfully navigate the job market. Furthermore, Dr. Al-Nsoor recommended that students consult the student handbook and the university regulations to ensure a clear understanding of their academic rights and responsibilities.
In her insightful address, Ms. Abu Hamdieh provided a comprehensive overview of the academic programmes offered by the esteemed British universities of Bedfordshire and Strathclyde. She emphasised the benefits of enrolling in these programmes and pursuing studies at the MEU campus to obtain a British degree that is accredited, which has been shown to significantly broaden the academic and professional horizons of students.
Concluding the session was an open discussion forum where students’ questions and inquiries were addressed. This atmosphere, characterised by positivity, reflected the spirit of belonging and interaction that marks the start of the new academic year.
