The Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences organised the event, which witnessed the participation of fifty male and female students from various academic disciplines. This competition, which experiences increasing engagement annually, is part of the university’s broader objective to strengthen students’ connection to the Holy Qur’an. It aims to provide instruction in the rules of Tajwid based on rigorous scholarly foundations, whilst simultaneously fostering self-confidence and enhancing public speaking and presentation skills.
Regarding the competition results, Mohammad Al-Zuqum, a physiotherapy student, secured first place in the male category, while Hamza Hamoudeh of the Faculty of Nursing and Abdul Rahman Al-Badawi Yousef of the Physiotherapy department shared second place. In the female category, Angham Al-Manaseer, an interior design student, was awarded first place, followed by Houriya Marzouq, a student in the Professional Diploma in Hospital Management and Medical Records, who achieved second place.
The adjudicating panel consisted of Dr. Mohammad Al-Arman from the Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences; Dr Abdullah Sarbal, Imam of the Abu Qoura Mosque and representative of the Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places; and Dr. Anwar Al-Shaltouni, a former lecturer at Umm Al-Qura University and supervisor at the Sanad Global Quranic Platform.
The winners were formally recognised during a ceremony held to mark World Arabic Language Day, reinforcing the profound link between the Arabic language and the Holy Qur’an. This competition stands as a significant initiative that integrates linguistic, ethical, and cognitive dimensions within the university’s educational mission.
