Amman: The members of the Board of Trustees of Middle East University convened to deliberate on the university’s academic and administrative tracks, future plans, and its achievements at the local and international levels. The meeting was presided over by the Chairman of the Board, HE Dr. Yaqoub Nasereddin, in the presence of the university’s President, Prof. Salam Al-Mahadeen.

Dr. Nasseruddin clarified that the university prioritises a collaborative approach, adopting a well-defined strategic plan to advance its development process and achieve its comprehensive vision and mission. He emphasised that education in Jordan has received and continues to receive substantial support and attention from the royal patronage, serving as a fundamental pillar of the nation’s renaissance and a crucial element in achieving comprehensive and sustainable development at various levels.

During the meeting, the necessity to adopt the English language as a primary medium of instruction was underscored within the context of a comprehensive strategic plan aimed at enhancing students’ academic and practical competencies. This approach, as emphasised, equips them with a substantial competitive advantage, reflecting their proficiency and broadening the range of prospects available to them in various settings.

Prof. Al-Mahadin further stated that during the second semester, the university will commence administering level examinations for students in accordance with the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).This initiative aims to evaluate students’ language proficiency and ascertain the requisite study hours to ensure that they attain the B1 level or higher, which is regarded as the minimum proficiency necessary to facilitate effective academic communication.

This initiative will be followed by the organisation of courses designed to address students’ needs, a step in which the university acknowledges the necessity to cultivate their capacity to adhere to the demands of university education in a scientific and systematic manner.During the meeting, the significance of scientific research in addressing contemporary issues was underscored through the preparation of in-depth scientific research on cybercrime law and cases that fall within this framework.

Furthermore, the upcoming meetings of the Board of Trustees will prioritise the formulation of the university’s new strategic plan, with discussions centered on its vision and objectives for the next five years. These objectives are designed to reflect the institution’s academic and educational ambitions.

Generally, these meetings underscore Middle East University’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education and scientific research and to equipping its students with advanced academic and professional skills to meet the challenges of the current era.

It is noteworthy that a comprehensive evaluation of the Council’s performance was conducted during the academic year 2023-2024, resulting in 154 decisions that were subsequently implemented by the university administration and members of the academic and administrative bodies.

Middle East University was founded in 2005 in Amman, the capital of Jordan, located approximately 15 minutes from the city centre. The university’s campus is secure and conducive to learning, in accordance with the needs of students, academic and administrative bodies, and guests of the university.
The university comprises nine faculties and three academic programmes, namely, bachelor’s degree, higher diploma and master’s degree, in addition to hosted programmes with the most prestigious British universities.
