The Faculty of Media organised an extensive discussion on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, hosting Al-Mamlaka TV correspondent in Gaza, Bassel Al-Attar, while TRT correspondent in Gaza, Sami Fouad, participated via remote communication technology – ZOOM – in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Ramez Abu Hassira, faculty members and a group of students.
This took place during a meeting with the newly enrolled students in the faculty theatre, where the session was moderated by faculty member and media professional Dr. Muhammad Abu Halqa, who praised Jordan’s continued support for the sector through field hospitals and relief aid, as well as the role of the Hashemite Charity Organisation in strengthening the resilience of the Palestinian people.
Al-Attar shared his practical and humanitarian experience, noting that recent events in Gaza over the past two years require careful consideration and that journalism in the field of combat has gone beyond any traditional conception, with journalists becoming direct targets, leading to the martyrdom of 250 journalists and the destruction of equipment and entire work headquarters.
Accordingly, TRT correspondent Sami Fouad spoke about the harsh experiences he and his colleagues have endured as a result of repeated attacks, noting that journalists in Gaza are fighting a battle on two fronts, between protecting their lives and conveying the truth to the world, and that the crimes and violations Gaza is subjected to make it a unique model for investigative journalism and for documenting the use of internationally banned weapons.
