The Legal Clinic Club, operating under the Deanship of Student Affairs in collaboration with the Faculty of Law, organised a study visit to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Public Security Directorate. The visit’s primary objective was to familiarise students with the pivotal role the Department undertakes in the investigation, inference, and inquiry into crimes against persons and property, specifically as mandated by the Jordanian Code of Criminal Procedure.
As for the programme of the visit, it encompassed a discussion of several specialised thematic areas. Chief among these was an introduction to the Criminal Investigation Department, detailing its substantive and specific jurisdiction. Additionally, a presentation was given on the security and legal services it renders to citizens.
Furthermore, the sessions further explored serious or ‘grave’ crimes, such as the various types of human trafficking offences and money laundering crimes, which increasingly employ sophisticated technical methods, particularly through e-wallets (digital wallets).
The visit concluded with an affirmation of the importance of sustained collaboration between the university and the Public Security Directorate. This cooperation is intended to facilitate the organisation of extended awareness sessions on campus, aimed at elevating students’ legal literacy and informing them of crime prevention strategies and the appropriate methods for early reporting via the CID’s Awareness Section.
