The Faculty of Media at Middle East University recently hosted the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, His Excellency Daifallah Al-Fayez, for a formal dialogue with students regarding the ministry’s strategic management of regional and international dossiers. The session, which was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Media Dr Ramez Abu Hasira along with members of the academic staff, focused on the mechanisms of Jordanian diplomatic conduct amidst the prevailing global political shifts.
During the discourse, Mr Al-Fayez outlined the Ministry’s methodology in addressing external affairs, explaining that Jordanian policy is predicated upon clear constants aimed at safeguarding national interests and maintaining regional stability. He further emphasised that the Kingdom’s diplomatic efforts rely on institutional planning and robust coordination with various state entities to foster balanced relations built on mutual respect and the tenets of international law.
Mr Al-Fayez noted that Jordanian diplomacy effectively combines steadfast positions with a flexible approach, allowing the state to navigate sensitive issues without compromising its national principles. He also underlined the indispensable role of the media in articulating Jordan’s official stance and tackling misinformation within the increasingly complex digital sphere.
On the sidelines of the colloquium, the Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees Dr Yaqoub Nasir-Eddin met with the Secretary-General to commend the proactive leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II. He remarked that His Majesty’s astute reading of the global balance of power and direct engagement with world leaders has cemented Jordan’s reputation as a reliable partner and a prominent voice on critical issues, most notably the Palestinian cause and regional security.
The event concluded with an interactive session where students raised enquiries regarding diplomatic career trajectories and the synergy between media and foreign policy. This engagement provided the students with a comprehensive overview of the practicalities of the diplomatic service and the importance of professional communication in the international arena.
