The Deanship of Student Affairs, in collaboration with students from the ‘Ana Asharek’ (I Participate) initiative, organised an interactive event entitled ‘Orange the World’ at Middle East University. This initiative was held in observance of Human Rights Day and in conjunction with the global ‘16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence’ campaign. The event featured a series of real-life case studies highlighting various forms of violence encountered by women, encompassing physical, cyber, and psychological abuse, as well as discrimination within sporting environments and the workplace, all aimed at enhancing student awareness and fostering a societal culture that rejects all forms of violence.
During the proceedings, awareness-raising literature was distributed to the student body, emphasising the vital importance of advocating for women’s rights across humanitarian, social, and legal spheres. This outreach sought to empower students to become active proponents of gender equality and protectors of fundamental human rights within their local communities.
The President of the University, Professor Salam Al-Mahadin, received the participating students and commended their purposeful efforts and initiatives. She reaffirmed the University’s steadfast commitment to supporting activities that bolster legal and rights-based awareness, thereby contributing to a secure campus environment anchored in humanitarian values and social justice.
