The ‘AI Medical Hub’ team from Middle East University (MEU) was awarded first place in the Future Health Impact Hackathon. This event was organised collaboratively with the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) and the Jordanian Breast Cancer Programme (JBCP), and in partnership with the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship, as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week activities.
The winning team, supported by the Entrepreneurship Centre within the Deanship of Student Affairs, consisted of Anas Hassan and Mahmoud Al-Khawaldeh, both students from the Faculty of Information Technology, and Mahmoud Hammam, a student from the Faculty of Engineering.
The team received supervision and training from Ms. Maria Yousef, a lecturer from the Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, in collaboration with other members of the academic staff.
This achievement followed rigorous competition among more than thirty teams from various Jordanian universities. During the event, the MEU team presented their innovative project, ‘AI Medical Hub’—an AI Software as a Service (AI SaaS) platform. This system functions as a clinical assistant, aiding physicians in the analysis of medical breast images and the early detection of breast cancer indicators. The platform leverages continuous learning and deep learning techniques, thereby contributing to increased accuracy in medical decision-making and mitigating the potential for diagnostic error.
