During the opening ceremony of the second Global English Language Olympiad for Universities 2025, Middle East University (MEU) was formally honoured in recognition of its proactive role in enhancing English language instruction within the higher education sector. This commitment is consistent with national strategic objectives that aim to strengthen students’ linguistic proficiency and enhance their academic competitiveness at both the regional and international levels.
Under the academic supervision and mentorship of Dr. Nusayba Awajan and Dr. Kholoud Lebzou, the MEU student delegation achieved a distinguished presence by securing three prestigious awards, namely the Best Poster Award, the Best Performance Award, and the Best Team Spirit Award. The participating student cohort comprised Yusra Al-Badawi, Jana Al-Ayyan, Dalia Saleh, Lynn Suleiman, Basmalah Jadallah, Batoul Toolbar, Anas Abu Dahak, Maryam Adass, Deebaj Salameh, and Jannah Zamnoun.
The Olympiad, which was held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Azmi Mahafzah, featured the attendance of the President of Middle East University, Professor Salam Al-Mahadin, alongside several university presidents, deans of student affairs, and other prominent subject-matter experts.
The Global English Language Olympiad for Universities functions as an agent for the promotion of linguistic proficiency, aiming to cultivate a competitive academic atmosphere conducive to the cultivation of indispensable communication competencies, critical thinking, and cross-cultural engagement, in accordance with thorough international standards.
