Dr. Ayman Al-Khatib, an academic member of the Digital Supply Chain Department at the Faculty of Business, was the recipient of the Hussein Award for Economic Research in its fourth edition (2025). He was awarded the accolade for the Best Published Research in Green Economy, in collaboration with Dr. Mohammad Al-Ghababsheh from Mutah University and Ms. Mais Khattab from Luminus Technical University College.
The winning paper, which was entitled “The role of organisational ambidexterity and frugal innovation in enhancing circular supply chains: The impact of artificial intelligence capabilities”, was featured in the esteemed Technological Forecasting and Social Change journal, a publication of Elsevier. The journal’s position within the top 1% of journals in the field, as indicated by its Q1 ranking, is indicative of the publication’s exceptional academic standing. The journal’s impact factor of 13.3 further underscores the publication’s impact within the scientific community. The research published in this journal is of the highest calibre and possesses a distinctive scientific contribution.
Notably, the study places significant emphasis on the green economy, exploring the potential of frugal innovation and AI capabilities to strengthen circular supply chains. This is in alignment with Jordan’s objectives for sustainable economic development.
On receiving the honour, Dr. Al-Khatib expressed his pride in the achievement, attributing it to the solid support provided by Middle East University for scientific research. He emphasised the ongoing commitment of MEU to empower researchers, encouraging the production of studies that have a demonstrable national impact.
