Middle East University, represented by a team from the Faculty of Information Technology, has achieved a significant milestone by securing second place across the Central and Northern regions in the “Youth, Technology, Participation” Hackathon. Organised by the Independent Election Commission, the competition aimed to incentivise the integration of technology and artificial intelligence in fostering political and civic participation among the youth.
This distinction was earned through the innovative project “OQD: The National Shemagh for Civic Intelligence”, presented by students Ahmed Mohammad Al-Kloub, Mahmoud Ahmed Al-Khawaldeh, Anas Hassan Dahak, Rahaf Al-Jebali, and Dana Mohammad Hefnawi.
The project utilised advanced digital engineering, leveraging the capabilities of artificial intelligence and large language models (LLMs) to construct an intelligent platform. This system is designed to evaluate community initiatives, analysing their feasibility and projected impact.
Furthermore, the platform aims to demystify legal frameworks, transforming complex legislative structures into interactive content that resonates more effectively with the awareness and interests of the younger generation.
