
Middle East University, in collaboration with the British Council and London South Bank University, has launched the “Leading the Way: Supporting Women into Senior Higher Education Leadership and Beyond” project.
The official launch ceremony witnessed the signing of a formal collaborative agreement between the university and London South Bank University, representing the beginning of a series of joint training workshops and empowerment programmes focused on developing the leadership and management skills of academic women in the region.
In this regard, the President of the University, Prof. Salam Al-Mahadin, praised the fruitful partnership with British institutions, stressing the university’s commitment to raising the level of women’s academic empowerment.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Zainab Khan, Vice President for Academic Resources at London South Bank University, emphasised the importance of conscious female leadership in the development of higher education institutions and the necessity of investing in the next generation of female academic leaders.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mai Abu Hamdia, Director of the Centre for International Programmes at Middle East University, noted the importance of this initiative, which is a practical model for supporting women in achieving balance and excellence within higher education structures.
In this regard, the first workshop, entitled “Strategic Leadership and Management,” discussed the global and regional perspective of women’s leadership in higher education and the challenges of balancing the requirements of leadership and academic identity.
The programme is an extension of Middle East University’s commitment to the institutional vision of equality, equal opportunity and sustainable development in the academic environment, supported by funding from the British Council, which continues its efforts to strengthen academic and cultural connections between the UK and the Arab region.
