Middle East University hosted the first board meeting of the Jordanian Universities Sports Federation for the academic year 2025-2026. The meeting witnessed the attendance of the Deans of Student Affairs from all Jordanian public and private universities, following MEU’s assumption of the Federation’s presidency from the University of Jordan, which had held the position for the previous four years.
The President of MEU, Professor Salam Al-Mahadin, opened the meeting with a welcoming address, appreciating the efforts of the member universities in supporting university sports and expressing gratitude to the University of Jordan for its exceptional work during its tenure as head of the Federation.
Presiding over the meeting, Professor Al-Mahadin affirmed the university’s commitment to furthering the Federation’s mission, which aims to support athletically gifted students and to develop a nurturing university environment for their creative talents. This, she stressed, promotes a crucial balance between academic excellence and sporting achievement. She commended the remarkable accomplishments of Jordanian university students in local, Arab, and international championships, noting that these successes reflect the students’ awareness and commitment, highlighting the vital role universities play in sponsoring talent and honing athletic skills within a comprehensive academic system.
The session included discussions on several organisational, administrative, and technical difficulties related to the Federation’s operations. The aim of these discussions was to enhance institutional cooperation among member universities and develop the Federation’s administrative and technical structure. This effort is intended to elevate the standard of university sports in Jordan and consolidate the values of sportsmanship, fair competition, and university belonging among students.
Concluding the meeting, the participants emphasised the importance of continuing joint efforts to prepare a generation of conscious and responsible Jordanian youth capable of representing the nation with distinction in regional and international arenas.
