Middle East University participated in a celebration organised by the Al-Giza District Education Directorate to mark World Mental Health Day. The event witnessed the attendance of a selection of educational and counselling staff, a cohort of students and mentors, and representatives from the participating educational institutions.
The university was represented by the Assistant to the President, Dr. Saleem Sharif, who delivered an awareness lecture entitled “Mental Health and Anger Management”. In his presentation, Dr. Sharif reviewed the integrative relationship between modern educational practice and psychological awareness.
Dr. Sharif also elaborated that equipping students with skills to manage stress and emotional responses through positive coping mechanisms constitutes the essential first step towards cultivating a generation that understands the importance of transforming challenges into opportunities. He further noted that Middle East University operates within a comprehensive institutional framework to embed the principles of psychological support within both its academic programmes and its community initiatives.
During his participation, the event featured a series of presentations by cancer survivors, who offered detailed testimonies regarding their experiences of recovery and perseverance. Their narratives functioned as a compelling case study, demonstrating the potential for individuals to transform adversity into motivation, thereby paving the way for positive transformation.
