In observance of a significant milestone in the Islamic calendar, Middle East University (MEU) has commemorated the anniversary of Al-Isra’ wal-Mi’raj. This religious event was held under the distinguished patronage of the chairman of the university’s board of trustees, Dr. Yacoub Nasereddin, and was attended by a notable assembly of official and academic figures.
Regarding the proceedings, the celebratory programme—which welcomed Dr. Sultan Al-Qarala as the representative of the minister of Awqaf, Islamic affairs, and holy places—featured a series of religious and cultural segments. These presentations were designed to elucidate the spiritual and intellectual significance inherent in the journey of al-Isra’ wal-Mi’raj, offering profound insights into its theological implications.
Furthermore, Dr. Al-Qarala delivered a religious sermon on behalf of the ministry, in which he explored the spiritual and pedagogical dimensions of this momentous occasion. He emphasised the sublime virtues of faith, patience, and spiritual ascension, while further articulating the essential link between religious values and upright human and social conduct.
In light of the university’s broader mission, this commemoration reflects MEU’s commitment to honouring major religious occasions and strengthening its value-based and cultural presence within the campus environment. Such initiatives are consistent with the university’s academic and educational mandate, contributing to the development of a balanced and informed student character that remains firmly rooted in religious principles and civilisational identity.
To conclude the event, the celebration included the organisation of religious competitions and various choral performances. These were presented by students of the university in collaboration with the Ministry of Awqaf’s musical ensemble, fostering a sense of community and shared heritage.
