Middle East University, in collaboration with Palestine Polytechnic University, recently hosted a joint workshop entitled “Contemporary Furniture Design in the Context of Heritage Buildings”, which involved the participation of various academics and students from both institutions.
During the proceedings, students presented innovative design projects featuring contemporary furniture pieces inspired by Palestinian and Arab heritage, effectively demonstrating a capacity to integrate cultural identity with both functional and aesthetic considerations. These modern design solutions were crafted to meet contemporary market demands while simultaneously upholding the architectural spirit and heritage of the environment.
Upon the conclusion of the event, the dean of the faculty of engineering and design at Middle East University, Dr. Ayman Awad, honoured the members of the jury in recognition of their significant academic contributions, while the head of the interior design department, Dr. Qusay Mansour, presented awards to the participating students from Palestine Polytechnic University to underscore the robust academic cooperation existing between the two organisations.
