Amman: The Faculty of Media at Middle East University held the first meeting of its Advisory Council in the presence of a group of media professionals and experts.

The council aims to enhance the status of the Faculty of Media and link its outcomes to the needs of the local, Arab, and regional labour market in order to achieve sustainable development and serve the future aspirations of the faculty and its process, based on the university’s vision to promote the reality of media and ensure its progress.

The meeting, which was attended by the Vice President of the Board of Directors, Dr. Ahmad Nasereddin, the President of the University, Prof. Salam Al-Mahadin, and its Vice President, Prof. Ahmed Al-Louzi, was chaired by the Dean of the Faculty of Media, Hanan Al-Sheikh, who stressed the importance of the Faculty of Media as the cornerstone of the University’s academic system, noting that the Faculty of Media is the first of its kind in Jordan.

The council made a number of recommendations aimed at improving the quality of media outcomes and raising the level of academic and professional performance to ensure that media regains its pivotal role as a key lever in building societal awareness and guiding public opinion.

Prof. Al-Mahadin, President of the University, said that the Faculty of Media at Middle East University is one of the main pillars on which the University’s mission to achieve academic and societal excellence is based, stressing that the faculty is a strategic centre for the creation of creative and distinguished media professionals.

In his remarks, the Vice President of the Board of Governors, Dr. Nasereddin, emphasised that the Faculty of Media at the university aims to be a pioneer and more distinguished faculty at the local and Arab levels in preparing and qualifying media cadres to compete in the labour market.

During the meeting, the challenges and difficulties faced by media were addressed, and the Council recommended the necessity of developing educational curricula to be more responsive to the needs of the times, enhancing the practical aspects of training to ensure that students are prepared for the demands of the accelerated labour market, and the necessity of adhering to professional ethics in light of the pressures that media professionals are facing today, while setting standards and bases for the acceptance of those who wish to study media, ensuring the attraction of students with passion and awareness, while stressing the need to develop study plans in line with the stage and the labour market.
