In the third Middle East Dialogue, His Excellency Al-Fayez states:  The concepts of the past have been superseded, and the political youth are pivotal to the new Jordan.

Amman: Middle East University hosted its third dialogue, “The Jordanian Youth: Role and Participation in the Light of Independence,” welcoming the prominent attendance of His Excellency Faisal Al-Fayez in the presence of the Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, Senator Dr. Yaqoub Nasereddin, a number of local community leaders, the President of the University, Prof. Salam Al-Mahadin, faculty deans, faculty members, and a group of students.

In this regard, Al-Fayez asserted that youth are at the core of the royal messages. As Jordan enters its bicentennial and the constitutional entitlement to hold parliamentary elections approaches, youth will become responsible for significant obligations. They represent the largest sector of society and will benefit from the country’s ongoing development. Al-Fayez emphasised the necessity of equipping them with the requisite knowledge and skills to become a present and effective societal force.

He pointed out that the era of concerns and fears about party affiliation and political participation is over, particularly in light of His Majesty the King’s emphasis on breaking the barriers of fear or hesitation among the youth to ensure their active participation in political and party life. He further noted that the strength of the state lies in its continuity and that Jordan has continued to fulfil its aspirations and provide its citizens with constitutional and legislative bases that are organised, solid, and serious in creating the new Jordan since 1921.

“As we enter the bicentennial of our kingdom, we are hopeful for more achievements and a bright future under the guidance of our leader, His Majesty King Abdullah II, to build on what our country has achieved. Despite the tense regional situation and minefields, we have been able to adapt regional and international events to serve our interests and preserve the security and stability of the homeland,” said His Excellency Al-Fayez.

In adherence to the legacy of His Majesty King Hussein bin Talal, who exemplified tolerance, humility, and a profound love for Jordan’s soil, as well as a dedication to the principles of the nation and a relentless pursuit of its rights, His Majesty continues the process of building a modern Jordan, a strong and invincible nation that is always able to face challenges, no matter how formidable or daunting they may be.

During the reign of His Majesty King Abdullah II, Jordan has continued its reform process in various political, economic, and social fields. Since assuming his constitutional powers, His Majesty has striven to institutionalise democracy and political pluralism, achieve sustainability in economic growth and social development, and enhance the quality of life for Jordanians. Furthermore, he has sought to strengthen Jordan’s foreign relations and reinforce the Kingdom’s pivotal role in working for regional peace and stability.

Today, His Majesty the King is spearheading a comprehensive reform initiative encompassing political, economic, and administrative domains. These reforms are founded upon the Kingdom’s cultural and historical heritage, as well as established values and traditions. Their objective is to advance towards the Jordanian democratic model and parliamentary governments. Additionally, they seek to enhance popular participation, improve the investment environment, empower women and youth, and facilitate economic resilience, a decent life for citizens, administrative efficiency, and the delivery of superior services. These reforms are designed to fortify Jordan’s resilience, modernity, and immunity by its second centenary.

In turn, Senator Dr. Nasereddin stated in the dialogue, which was presented by journalist and faculty member at the Faculty of Media, Dr. Hani Al-Badri, that Jordan has achieved a remarkable array of accomplishments that have elevated it to the pinnacle of struggle, freedom, independence, national pride, and invincibility. These achievements have made Jordan an unassailable bastion of the Arab nation, a symbol of its renaissance under the Hashemite dynasty of Al-Hussein bin Ali, Abdullah I bin Al-Hussein, Talal bin Abdullah, Al-Hussein bin Talal, may God rest their souls, and Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, may God extend his life.

He underscored that the ambitious project that His Majesty the King wishes to achieve is a renewed and vibrant Jordanian democracy based on three pillars: the gradual consolidation of parliamentary governments under the constitutional monarchy, reinforced by effective popular participation, will enable Jordan to continue the process of political reform in the face of well-known obstacles and unprecedented regional challenges surrounding it and the economy.

The dialogue between the university students and His Excellency, the President of the Senate, Faisal Al-Fayez, covered a wide range of topics, including motivations for engaging in political work, the pathways of democratic transformation, and party reform.
