Dr. Yacoub Nasereddin, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Middle East University, officially launches the “House of Art” in Building N.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Middle East University, Dr. Yacoub Nasereddin, opened the “House of Art” in Building N, where the Faculty of Engineering and Design is located, as a step that embodies the university’s vision to integrate art and design as an original part of its knowledge structure and its integrated academic system.

This opening coincided with the launch of the “Contemporary Creations” exhibition, organised by the Department of Graphic Design, through which the students of the faculty reviewed a group of art and design works that carried within them an aesthetic and cultural dimension that evokes Jordanian history and its ancient heritage, including its values, customs and traditions.

The exhibition was attended by Dr. Ahmad Nasereddin, Vice President of the Board of Directors; Prof. Salam Al-Mahadin, President of the University; Prof. Ahmad Al-Louzi, Vice President of the University; Dr. Ayman Awad, Dean of the Faculty; a number of assistants to the President; deans of faculties; heads of departments; faculty and administrative staff members; and a group of students.

The exhibition included several interactive events and paragraphs that gave it a lively character that reflected the richness and diversity of the student experience. It included quality presentations of artworks and design projects presented by interior and graphic design students, as well as a visual presentation on the history of Jordan and its origins.

The organisation of this exhibition stems from the university’s aim to enable students to showcase their artistic products to a number of professionals and employers on the one hand, and their graduation projects to experts on the other hand.

Dr. Nasereddin emphasised that the university’s support for such initiatives stems from its firm belief that academic institutions are not only measured by their ability to award degrees but also by their ability to discover potential capabilities, encourage critical thinking, and empower creativity as a language capable of expressing self, identity and belonging.

And he added:

“We invest in human intellect and awareness because we believe that true university education is incomplete unless the student becomes a partner in creating knowledge, not just a recipient of it.”

The exhibition “Contemporary Creations” is the result of the university’s continuous efforts to redefine the function of the modern university to become a true incubator for creativity and a bridge between the academic vision and the cultural and social reality.

In addition, the faculty has been awarded the ABET accreditation, which is a reliable indicator of the quality of educational programmes in the fields of engineering and technology, enhances its reputation, raises the level of higher education, and enables students and graduates to achieve a competitive advantage that contributes to increasing employment opportunities and success in their careers.

Moreover, the faculty comprises several specialisations, namely, Bachelor of Architecture, Bachelor of Renewable Energy Engineering, Bachelor of Intelligent Systems Engineering, Bachelor of Graphic Design, and Bachelor of Interior Design.

Middle East University was founded in 2005 in Amman, the capital of Jordan, located approximately 15 minutes from the city centre. The university’s campus is secure and conducive to learning, in accordance with the needs of students, academic and administrative bodies, and guests of the university.
The university comprises nine faculties and three academic programmes, namely, bachelor’s degree, higher diploma and master’s degree, in addition to hosted programmes with the most prestigious British universities.
