The Faculty of Media at Middle East University hosted former Minister of Government Communication Faisal Al-Shaboul in a dialogue session, during which he provided an in-depth critical vision on the transformations of the media scene in Jordan and the region, noting that building a solid student awareness in dealing with media and digital platforms is a prerequisite for ensuring the stability of the media system and enhancing its national role.
During the session, which was moderated by Prof. Dr. Hani Al-Badri, Dr. Rasha Salameh, and Dr. Mohammed Abu Hala, he called for the need for media students to transcend narrow selfish goals, and to bear in mind their great responsibility towards the supreme national interest, in light of what he described as the “war of information and digital disinformation” that is sweeping the public space, warning of the danger of slipping behind misleading news and rumors, explaining that the future of Jordanian media depends on the ability of the new generation to distinguish between truth and falsehood, and to refer to professional and ethical standards in the transmission and construction of information.
The dialogue session witnessed in-depth discussions and critical questions that revealed the advanced level of awareness among a large segment of students and their aspiration to play an active role in a more sober and responsible media scene.
Such a visit reflects the faculty’s commitment to interact directly with the most prominent media figures in Jordan, enriching the educational experience and establishing paths for advanced academic and professional maturity.
