Al-Mamlaka’s Director-General holds a dialogue session with students from the Faculty of Media on the responsibilities of Jordanian media.

by media / Sunday, 30 November 2025 / Published in University-News

The Director-General of Al-Mamlaka TV, Mr. Jaafar Al-Zoubi, stated that Middle East University students constitute the “ambassadors of tomorrow” and the standard-bearers for the future of media. He highlighted that the university’s rich training environment, including its advanced laboratories and prepared facilities, possesses the capability to sharpen students’ skills and enable them to evolve into professional journalists capable of achieving the desired impact.

These remarks came during a dialogue session held by the Faculty of Media with its students, where Mr. Al-Zoubi declared that the future of the profession cannot be separated from the journalist as a person. He stressed that Artificial Intelligence (AI) – despite its advancements – cannot serve as a substitute for human intuition and editorial capability, affirming that the journalist will remain a core component of the media process.

In her commentary, the Media and Information Literacy Consultant, Ms. Bayan Al-Tal, clarified that media literacy is linked to how an individual deals with media content in terms of comprehension, analysis, critique, and production. She pointed out that the essence of this literacy lies in fostering critical awareness, enabling the public to distinguish misleading news and hate speech, and recognising the unheard voices within the media landscape.

According to the Dean of the Faculty of Media, Dr. Ramez Abu Hssirah, he affirmed the faculty’s continuity in its practical approach based on building partnerships with media organisations and experts. This, he noted, ensures the alignment of educational outcomes with the profession’s requirements, transforming these partnerships into tangible training value that enhances students’ professional readiness.

Following the dialogue session, a meeting of the faculty’s Advisory Board was held, during which the appointment of Al-Zoubi and Al-Tal as Board members was announced. Dr. Abu Hssirah confirmed that this aims to boost the involvement of the job market in the academic process and to entrench the principles of governance within the academic institution.

Middle East University was founded in 2005 in Amman, the capital of Jordan, located approximately 15 minutes from the city centre. The university’s campus is secure and conducive to learning, in accordance with the needs of students, academic and administrative bodies, and guests of the university.
The university comprises nine faculties and three academic programmes, namely, bachelor’s degree, higher diploma and master’s degree, in addition to hosted programmes with the most prestigious British universities.
