The Faculty Council of the Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences at Middle East University held its inaugural meeting for the 2025-2026 academic year. The session was chaired by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Ayat Al-Maghraby, and attended by members of both the academic and administrative staff.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Al-Maghraby welcomed the academic staff, commending the significant efforts undertaken by the heads of departments and their respective councils throughout the previous year in supporting the university’s progression and enhancing its academic standing.
She also reiterated the faculty’s commitment to implementing the university’s new strategic plan, which includes directives aimed at advancing its educational, research, and societal mission. Dr. Al-Maghraby urged attendees to translate this vision into actionable initiatives, the impact of which must be measured via precise performance indicators (PIs). This rigorous assessment, she noted, would allow for the evaluation of progress and the rectification of policies to ensure alignment with best university practices.
Speaking of outcomes, the dean proceeded to discuss with the faculty the mechanisms for linking programme outcomes to the requirements of the labour market. She called for sustaining communication with the faculty’s alumni to establish a robust database that would enhance the efficacy of academic programmes.
Furthermore, the meeting placed considerable emphasis on scientific research issues, specifically focusing on the potential for utilising funded research projects as a mechanism to elevate the faculty’s research productivity and, concurrently, serve the needs of the local community.
Attendees collectively stressed the imperative of activating the faculty’s activities and events to meet societal needs across various fields. The importance of organising work, coordinating efforts, and activating internal committees was highlighted as crucial to achieving the faculty’s objectives and reinforcing its role in translating the university’s vision and mission into tangible outcomes.
It is worth noting that the Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences at Middle East University offers a range of academic programmes, including the UK-accredited (ASIC) Bachelor’s in English Language and Literature, Bachelor’s in Applied Translation, Arabic Language and Literature, Educational Technology, Sports Management and Training, and the Higher Diploma in Education. It also oversees the university’s compulsory and elective requirements through its Departments of Basic Human Sciences and Scientific Basic Sciences.
