Middle East University participated in the official launch of the national “Stop the Rumour” initiative, held at the headquarters of the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA). Held under the patronage of the JFDA Director General, Professor Rana Obeidat, the campaign is implemented by the Awareness of Medical Errors Foundation (AME) in partnership with the Jordan Pharmaceutical Association to coincide with World Patient Safety Day. The initiative aims to curb pharmaceutical misinformation, enhance patient safety, and embed a culture of verifying health information from reliable sources.
Marking a key milestone during the event, MEU signed a tripartite cooperation agreement with the “Stop the Rumour” initiative and the AME Foundation. This partnership serves to strengthen institutional links with national healthcare bodies, supporting collective efforts to advance health literacy and advocate for the safe, rational use of medicines.
Representing the university at the ceremony, the delegation included Dr Soha Abu Dawleh, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Dr Haya Yasin, Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy; and Dr Wejdan Shroukh.
Underlining the broader significance of this collaboration, MEU’s participation reflects its academic and civic commitment to promoting medicine safety. By championing evidence-based health communication, the university continues to empower the community to distinguish between verified pharmaceutical data and misleading rumours.
