During its session held on 30 August 2026, the Council of Education and Human Resources Development approved the appointment of the chairman and members of the Board of Trustees of Middle East University for a four-year term commencing on the date of issuance, in accordance with the relevant legislative frameworks.
Under the terms of the decision, former Senator Dr Yacoub Adel Abdel Moneim Nasereddin was appointed Chairman of the Board of Trustees. The board’s academic membership comprises Professor Bashir Khalifa Al-Zoubi, Professor Nazeer Nayef Abu Obeid, and Professor Nabil Taleb Ahmad Shawagfeh—each being an individual of distinguished standing and scholarly expertise in higher education who holds the rank of full professor.
In addition, the board includes Mr Mohammad Waleed Abdullah Salem and Mr Yousef Jean Joseph Shamoun, serving as members with specialised expertise and domain experience in business and information technology related to the university’s academic focus.
Pursuant to the nomination of the Governing Board, the membership includes Dr Waseem Wael Ayoub Zureikat and Engineer Abdul Majeed Ahmad Lutfi Khadr. Representing the industrial and commercial sectors are His Excellency Engineer Shehadeh Abdullah Abu Hdeib and Professor Mutasim Saud Mahmoud Abdul-Jaber, alongside the University President, Professor Salam Al-Mahadin, who serves as a member of the Board of Trustees by virtue of her office.
The approval of this new Board of Trustees structure forms part of finalising the university’s governance and oversight framework. It aims to leverage academic, economic, industrial, commercial, and technological expertise to advance the institution’s trajectory and support its strategic priorities.
