Middle East University and the King Hussein Cancer Centre have discussed prospects for joint cooperation in innovation, scientific research, specialised training, and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the advancement of healthcare and educational services, aiming to strengthen the alliance between academic knowledge and practical application.
The discussions took place during a meeting between the president of the university, Professor Salam Al-Mahadin, and the director general of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, Nisreen Qatamish. The meeting witnessed the attendance of the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr Amjad Abu Ermeleh; the Director of the Innovation and Professional Development Centre, Prof. Anis Al-Mansour; along with a delegation from the centre.
During the session, both parties underscored the importance of expanding collaboration in developing research and training programmes. They highlighted the need to provide qualitative opportunities for students and researchers to leverage advanced expertise in the health sector, thereby preparing qualified professionals equipped with the scientific and technical skills necessary to keep pace with rapid transformations in healthcare.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed avenues for launching joint initiatives that utilise modern technologies—chiefly AI applications—to support diagnostics, enhance the quality of therapeutic services, and foster data-driven decision-making systems. Ultimately, these efforts aim to embed a culture of innovation while opening new horizons for cooperation between the academic and healthcare sectors.
