Middle East University has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Jordan Article Numbering Association (GS1 Jordan), aimed at advancing academic and applied collaboration within digital supply chains whilst embedding digital transformation frameworks in accordance with international best practices and standards.
The agreement was formally executed by the president of the university, Professor Salam Al-Mahadin, in the presence of the dean of the Faculty of Business, Dr Rania Al-Zatmah, and the head of the Digital Supply Chain Department, Dr Najwa As’al. Representing the association, the agreement was signed by its chief executive officer, Mr Mohammad Zwana, accompanied by a delegation of senior representatives.
Under the terms of this partnership, specialised training programmes delivered by GS1 experts will be offered to students within the Digital Supply Chain Department. This initiative will enable students to acquire advanced competencies in global identification standards (GS1), barcode technologies, product traceability, and data management, thereby significantly enhancing their graduate employability within modern enterprise environments.
Expanding beyond educational development, the agreement creates broader avenues for collaboration in scientific research, innovation, and knowledge exchange. Through joint academic initiatives, both institutions aim to support the digital evolution of the logistics and supply chain sectors, facilitating the generation of applied scholarly solutions responsive to the rapid transformations characterising this vital industry.
