Middle East University received a delegation from the Hebron Municipality, led by the mayor, Eng. Yousef Al-Ja’bari, to discuss several portfolios of mutual interest. The meeting witnessed the attendance of the chairman of the university’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Yacoub Nasereddin; the vice chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Ahmad Nasereddin; and the president of the university, Professor Salam Al-Mahadin, alongside several faculty deans and relevant specialists.
In this regard, the Chairman of MEU’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Yacoub Nasereddin, emphasised the depth of the fraternal relations binding Jordan and Palestine. He noted that the bonds tying the two brotherly peoples transcend geographical borders, uniting them in history, destiny, and identity. This solidarity is continually demonstrated through Jordan’s steadfast positions, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, in supporting the Palestinian cause and defending the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem (Al-Quds Al-Sharif).
Dr. Nasereddin further stated that the university initiates its relationships with national and Arab institutions out of its cognitive and developmental responsibility. Consequently, he affirmed the university’s readiness to provide specialised training programmes aimed at capacity-building for personnel within partner institutions. This includes leveraging the university’s expertise in strategic planning and institutional development, as well as opening its facilities and specialised centres—foremost among which are the Physiotherapy Centre and business incubators—to serve the community.
In his remarks, the Mayor of Hebron, Eng. Yousef Al-Ja’bari, commended Jordan’s unwavering positions, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, in supporting the Palestinian people and defending their legitimate rights. He added that the city of Hebron looks with profound appreciation upon continuous Jordanian efforts to bolster Palestinian resilience and protect Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem through the Hashemite Custodianship.
Furthermore, Eng. Al-Ja’bari expressed his admiration for the stature achieved by Middle East University. He noted that the institution has successfully built an attractive academic and institutional reputation, securing an exceptional position within the higher education sector owing to its clear vision and continuous investment in minds and capabilities.
Concurrently, the president of the university, Professor Salam Al-Mahadin, remarked that MEU views institutional partnerships as an ideal opportunity for exchanging expertise and knowledge. Ultimately, these initiatives seek to construct effective bridges of cooperation between academic and developmental institutions, thereby establishing the university as an active partner in supplying the labour market with qualified competencies capable of driving genuine impact across various sectors.
In tandem with these remarks, the vice chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Ahmad Nasereddin, explained that the university is keen to deploy its academic and research capabilities, alongside its accumulated expertise, to support initiatives and projects that serve local communities in Jordan and sisterly nations, thereby contributing to sustainable development. In conclusion, he noted that the university looks favourably upon the developmental experience led by the Hebron Municipal Council and its extensive efforts to upgrade services and foster local development.
