Middle East University hosted the Director General of the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation (JRTV), Mr. Ibrahim Al-Bawarid, for a dialogue session attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Media, Dr. Ramez Abu Hasira, alongside faculty members, administrative staff, and a large assembly of students. The discussion focused on contemporary media developments and the challenges posed by rapidly evolving crises.
During the session, which was moderated by the media figure, Dr. Mohammad Abu Halqa, Al-Bawarid noted that the rise of the “citizen journalist” phenomenon across social media platforms presents profound challenges regarding information dissemination. He highlighted that the occasional absence of verification necessitates a stronger culture of individual responsibility in publishing, urging the public not to be drawn into rumours or unreliable narratives.
Furthermore, Al-Bawarid asserted that Jordan possesses an advanced model for crisis management, evidenced by the efficiency of its institutions and their high level of professionalism in addressing new developments. He added that adherence to official narratives issued by competent authorities serves as a fundamental pillar in combating media misinformation and protecting the public sphere from informational chaos.
