The Toledo Hotel has formally recognised a cohort of interior design students from the Middle East University’s Faculty of Engineering and Design, following a competitive project to overhaul the aesthetics of the establishment’s seventh floor.
This initiative was born out of the practical requirements for the university’s ‘Tourism Design’ module, thereby providing a crucial bridge between academic theory and the rigorous demands of the contemporary hospitality industry. Throughout the process, the students produced exhaustive design blueprints that were lauded by faculty and industry observers alike for their sophisticated approach to modern spatial challenges.
In light of these submissions, a final review session was convened and attended by the hotel’s General Manager, Mr. Hakam Barakat, who played a central role in assessing both the viability and creativity of the proposals.
After this thorough evaluation, five projects were identified for their outstanding quality, and they were awarded cash prizes as a form of professional encouragement. Leading the cohort, the top honour and a prize of 400 dinars were awarded to the duo of Dareen Abu Aqel and Kawthar Assaf. They were closely followed by Areen Salem Al-Hourani, who secured second place and a 300-dinar award, while third place and a prize of 200 dinars went to Zeina Ammar. Rounding out the successful entries, the fourth-place prize of 150 dinars was shared by Abdulaziz Al-Ouran and Sara Abu Farha, with Nadia Qaddous and Maya Al-Shobaki receiving 100 dinars for their fifth-place finish.
