The Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences at Middle East University held a specialist workshop focused on healthy weight management during the holy month of Ramadan. Attended by the University President, Professor Salam Al-Mahadin, the event provided a scientific framework for resetting nutritional behaviour by framing the fasting period as a vital physiological window for repairing metabolic indicators.
Building on this clinical perspective, the session’s discussions centred on the importance of early biological monitoring and the role of periodic testing in risk management. These insights were paired with practical physical activity guidelines, designed to regulate exercise during fasting hours in a way that preserves muscle mass while promoting safe fat-burning.
To reinforce these theoretical principles, the workshop’s practical application was fostered by on-site screenings conducted by the university’s industry partners. This witnessed a team from YAN Industrial and Trading Company perform blood pressure checks, while MedLabs provided blood glucose testing. Furthermore, comprehensive body composition analyses were carried out using Tanita technology to measure body fat, muscle mass, and metabolic age.
