The results of the basketball and beach volleyball championships were officially announced in Aqaba. Organised by the Jordanian Universities Sports Federation as part of “The Leader” Tournament, the event showcased a vibrant university sporting scene and a strong spirit of competition among participating students.
Leading the award ceremony, Dr. Hazem Al-Nsoor, Secretary of the Sports Federation and Dean of Student Affairs at Middle East University, presented trophies and medals to the top three finishers. During his remarks, Dr. Al-Nsoor commended the high technical standards displayed by the teams, noting that the matches were defined by discipline, commitment, and exemplary sportsmanship.
In terms of the basketball standings, Princess Sumaya University for Technology secured the first-place title. Meanwhile, the University of Jordan claimed second place, with Al-Hussein Technical University and the German Jordanian University sharing the third-place position.
The beach volleyball results followed a similar pattern, with Princess Sumaya University for Technology once again taking the top spot, followed by the University of Jordan in second. Furthermore, third place was shared between Yarmouk University and Jadara University.
Looking at the broader context, “The Leader” Tournament aligns with the Federation’s strategic mission to embed a culture of university sports. By fostering constructive competition, the initiative aims to refine students’ physical and leadership skills while strengthening ties between institutions. Ultimately, such events serve to support the youth sports movement across the Kingdom’s governorates.
