Middle East University commenced its celebrations marking the birthday of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein. The dignified ceremony reflected His Majesty’s profound standing among Jordanians as a symbol of wisdom and equanimity and as the leader of the nation’s ongoing developmental journey.
The event was held under the patronage of the Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Yacoub Nasereddin, featuring the attendance of the President of the University, Professor Salam Al-Mahadin, alongside university administration, senior security officials, local community leaders, government officials, academic and administrative members, and a large assembly of students.
In his remarks, Dr. Nasereddin extended his congratulations to His Majesty on this auspicious occasion. He emphasised His Majesty’s capacity to consolidate Jordan’s stability and maintain national cohesion despite rapid regional challenges, attributing this success to a royal vision founded upon the protection of national interests and the fortification of state institutions.
Furthermore, he noted that His Majesty has prioritised the youth, recognising their pivotal role in transitioning Jordan into the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the information technology sector. Additionally, Dr. Nasereddin highlighted that the Royal Discussion Papers have provided a clear national roadmap, guiding the Jordanian people towards a more resilient and progressive second centenary.
In his address, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Hazem Al-Nsour, stated that celebrating national occasions reinforces the values of positive citizenship among students. He noted that such events foster a culture of belonging, diligence, and responsibility, thereby cultivating a balanced university persona that integrates academic excellence with national consciousness.
With regard to the ceremonial programme, the event featured a diverse national and cultural programme, including artistic and heritage performances expressive of Jordanian identity. The event featured a variety of student performances, a folkloric display by the Greater Amman Municipality troupe, musical arrangements by the University Choir, and a speech delivered by the President of the Student Parliament, Ahmed Al-Sabateen.
