The Technical College at Middle East University (MEU) convened a dialogue session entitled ‘Arms of Knowledge and National Determination: How We Shape the Future through Our Specialisations’, featuring Member of Parliament Mohammad Al-Dhahrawi as the keynote guest. The event, which was attended by the Dean of the college, Dr. Anas Al-Ashram, alongside members of the academic faculty and students from the Physical Therapy programme, served as a platform to discuss the strategic importance of university specialisations in fostering national growth.
During the session, MP Al-Dhahrawi emphasised the pivotal role of technical, vocational and allied medical disciplines in responding to the evolving demands of the Jordanian labour market. The necessity of aligning higher education outcomes with the requirements of both the public and private sectors was emphasised, thereby narrowing the gap between academic instruction and professional employment. Such alignment is essential for enhancing the vocational readiness of graduates and ensuring they are equipped to contribute effectively to the national economy.
Furthermore, Al-Dhahrawi noted that Jordanian legislation and legal frameworks constitute a fundamental pillar in supporting technical and vocational education pathways. He provided a detailed explanation of the function of legislation in the development of these professions, the protection of practitioners’ rights, and the enhancement of their efficiency. He concluded by highlighting that the reinforcement of these disciplines within the national economic system is inherently consistent with the state’s broader objectives regarding modernisation and sustainable development.
