The Faculty of Nursing recently convened a specialist panel discussion entitled “Health Laws, Violations, Key Cases, and Legal Redress Mechanisms,” aimed at reinforcing the legal literacy of its nursing students. The seminar featured contributions from Mr. Zuhair Musallam, a member of the Jordan Nurses and Midwives Council, alongside the legal expert Dr. Hyam Al-Shawabkeh.
Mainly, the discourse explored the regulatory legal framework governing the healthcare sector in Jordan, providing a clear distinction between healthcare violations and professional clinical errors, whilst elucidating the respective legal liabilities to ensure the protection of both patient rights and the interests of healthcare practitioners.
Moreover, this discussion further addressed recent amendments to functional legislation and the updated job descriptions for nursing staff, examining their subsequent impact on professional titles, scope of authority, and clinical responsibilities. The speakers clarified the legal obligations arising from these regulatory shifts during practical application, ensuring that future nurses are well-versed in the statutory requirements of their vocation. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to integrating legal and ethical education within the clinical curriculum, thereby preparing students to navigate the complexities of the modern healthcare environment with professional integrity.
