The Faculty of Media held a special event to celebrate the World Philosophy Day, entitled “Youth and Philosophy: The Journey of Searching for Meaning and Consciousness”. This initiative was held in partnership with the Jordanian Philosophical Society, aligning with the university’s direction to develop education, stimulate critical thinking, and equip students with philosophical tools that enable them to analyse complex issues and enhance their self- and societal awareness.
In his address, the Dean of the Faculty of Media, Dr. Ramez Abu Hasireh, confirmed that the celebration of World Philosophy Day embodies the faculty’s commitment to instilling critical thinking in students. He explained that integrating philosophy into media curricula contributes to preparing a generation capable of consciously analysing issues.
Dr. Lina Al-Jazrawi, President of the Jordanian Philosophical Society, delivered an engaging interactive lecture centred on core philosophical concepts such as ethics, freedom, and happiness. She emphasised the importance of embracing philosophy as a method of thinking across various fields of life.
Concluding the event, Dr. Sabah Al-Harahsheh, Head of the Journalism and Media Department, stressed that integrating philosophical thinking into media studies represents a fundamental pillar for responsible journalism capable of distinguishing between truth and misinformation. She also affirmed that this approach enhances students’ awareness and their ability to understand what lies behind events.
