Middle East University organised a seminar entitled “The 1952 Constitution: The State’s Path and Compass”, with the notable guest Dr. Muhammad Al-Ghazo, former member of the Constitutional Court. The event witnessed the presence of the Vice President of the University, Prof. Ahmad Al-Louzi, along with several deans, academic and administrative staff members, and students.
The seminar began with a speech by Dr. Ayman Al-Refou, Dean of the Faculty of Law. In his address, Dr. Al Refou stated that the 1952 Constitution constituted the foundation upon which the modern Jordanian state was built. He characterised it as a document of national consensus that established the principles of constitutional rule and the supremacy of law.
In his contribution, Dr. Muhammad Al Ghazo expounded on this notion, underscoring that the constitution is the articulation of the popular will, thereby conferring legitimacy upon the authorities and ensuring a harmonious balance among them.
The seminar concluded with an open dialogue between Dr. Al Ghazo and the students, during which they discussed contemporary constitutional issues and the primary challenges facing the practical implementation of the constitution.
