Middle East University, in collaboration with the University of Bedfordshire, has officially launched the BEACON project, funded by the British Academy and supported by the UK Government’s International Science Partnerships Fund.
The launch ceremony, hosted at the Geneva Hotel Amman, featured a panel discussion entitled “Women in Innovation and Entrepreneurship: From Research to Real-World Impact.” The session was chaired by Professor Mai Abu Hamdiya, Assistant to the University President for Promotion and Communication Affairs, and included a distinguished group of speakers.
The panellists included Dr. Sanaz Fattoukah, the Project Director; Dr. Siham Al-Jafara, the Project Coordinator at Middle East University; Professor Dr. Levent Altinay, Editor-in-Chief of the Service Industries Journal at Oxford Brookes University (UK); Dr. Reem Al-Fayez, Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre at the University of Jordan; Dr. Reem Al-Baghdadi, President of the Jordanian Business and Professional Women Forum; and Eng. Lama Arabiyat, Director of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technologies at the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship.
The discussion centred on key topics, including how to turn academic ideas into successful businesses, the need to fill research gaps in studies about women in entrepreneurship, and the important role of universities in promoting innovation and helping the national knowledge economy.
