The Advisory Council of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences convened to deliberate upon a range of vital issues aimed at developing the academic programmes and enhancing educational outcomes, ensuring alignment with labour market demands and contemporary trends within the health sector.
A central point of discussion was a proposal to establish a student-led ‘Health Club’, operating under direct academic supervision. This club is intended to serve as an interactive platform, bringing together various medical disciplines and contributing to the promotion of health awareness both within the university and the wider community.
Council members stressed the necessity of fostering interdisciplinary integration across health specialisms through joint projects. These projects will unite students from Nutrition, Physiotherapy, and Laboratory Analysis, thereby strengthening their communication and teamwork skills. Furthermore, the Council emphasised the importance of engaging students in community initiatives and public health awareness campaigns, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and relevant professional associations.
The meeting culminated in a set of recommendations focused on linking educational output with the essential practical skills required in the field, supporting applied scientific research, and establishing a state-of-the-art training environment. This environment will incorporate modern laboratories and interactive simulation projects, thus serving to embed a culture of quality assurance and academic accreditation within the Faculty.
The proceedings of the meeting witnessed the attendance of the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Anas Al-Ashram; the Vice Dean, Dr. Samiha Al-Zunaybat; the Heads of Academic Departments; and representatives from key institutions across the health sector.
