
Middle East University has marked a new scientific achievement to be added to its academic heritage by winning first place in the Computer Vision Competition, one of the main competitions in the Arab Olympiad for Artificial Intelligence, which was held on Saturday at the Landmark Hotel in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
The Olympiad was organised as a result of a strategic partnership between the Arab Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Society and the STEM Centre, with 50 teams comprising more than 300 competitors from educational institutions in Jordan and multiple Arab countries, including Qatar, Egypt, Libya, Palestine, Lebanon and Yemen, reflecting the regional nature of the competition and underlining its advanced position in the Arab innovation scene.
The winning team consisted of students Mohammed Al-Wazzan and Rahma Al-Nahar from the Artificial Intelligence major, under the direct academic supervision of Dr. Huthaifa Abu Hammad. The team performed at a high level, earning the praise of the jury, who noted the high technical and innovative skills demonstrated by the team in employing computer vision tools and techniques.
The university promoted its institutional presence through its participation in the jury, represented by a specialised academic team that included Dr. Huthaifa Abu Hammad, Dr. Hani Al Balushi, Dr. Ahmad Hussein, and Engineer Laith Shihab.
