Arabic Language and Literature

Welcome to the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, where you have the knowledge, skill, and high competence in teaching and learning the Arabic language and literature. This department is one of the core academic departments in the College of Arts and Educational Sciences. It was established out of the Middle East University’s belief in the importance of the Arabic language, its awareness of the need to advance it, its desire to meet the requirements of the local and regional labour market, and its desire to keep pace with global interest in learning and teaching the Arabic language and literature at foreign universities.

The department currently hosts two academic programmes: the Bachelor of Arabic Language and Literature programme (132 credit hours) and the Master of Arabic Language and Literature programme (33 credit hours) in its two tracks: Thesis and Comprehensive.

Includes The department has a distinguished elite of faculty members, whose academic ranks are distributed between professor, associate professor, and assistant professor, covering in their precise specialisations all cognitive fields of Arabic language sciences and literature. The faculty’s tasks and activities vary between teaching courses, following up, guiding and supervising students, conducting scientific research, and serving the community, in addition to holding seminars and workshops and participating in scientific conferences.

The department seeks to qualify students linguistically and literarily and make them able to bear responsibility in the era of the knowledge revolution and information technology.
